Costa Rica - Good bye Manuel Antonio - Kids Thoughts

OUR THOUGHTS ON MANUEL ANTONIO - Sept 2016

RHETT - The things I liked about Quepos and Manuel Antonio is the pizza.  We would go to the pizza place like every day, the pizza slice was very big. It was so good, I got pepperoni Mom and Dad got salami. Then the monkeys. I really liked the monkeys because when we eat fruit the monkeys will take our fruit. Surfing, I liked surfing because I have not done it before and it was hard.

 Then seeing the Toucans. I liked toucans because their body is black and their beak is yellow. Last but not least the Scarlet Macaws. I like them because they are so colorful and loud. I also really like cracking coconuts open and drinking the water and then eating the heart. A surfer guy on the beach showed me how to crack open a coconut with a rock after he stabbed the coconut with a knife to cut off the outside layer. It was very cool!

Something Nate and I like to do is throw rocks at the termite ball things that grow on the trees everywhere. Some are huge and easy to hit, they are kind of gross! Termites are actually really, really little and there is lots inside!

ADISON- Manual Antonio was amazing! We basically had monkeys on our roof and deck every day! Scarlett Macaws would fly over our house like every hour, the Jesus Christ lizards would be running around by our pool, sloths hanging in the trees. Goldie, the neighbours dog would lay in our house every day, all day.

We hiked to a waterfall one day, which was so fun!! We had to follow the creek and then we would  eventually show up there. There was a rope that you could climb up after you jumped. It was about 20 ft. high, and it is very deep at the bottom. Goldie came with us and she never left our side, we would always follow her because she had the best routes. Rhett and I jumped 5 times, Dad jumped twice, and Nate jumped once.

In the morning we did school for about 2-3 hours, and then we would to the beach or Quepos. One day after we did school we went to the beach and tried surfing. We got surfing lessons for an hour, then after that we rented boards for like 2 hours. It was super fun!!

We crack coconuts daily, and swim in the pool every day. One time we chased an iguana up the hill and we went to go in his hole, in the pipes, but then a humongous Boa Constrictor snake grabbed it on the head. The iguana was flailing every where, so we ran inside to get Mom and Dad. When we got back the snake was coiled around the iguana squeezing it to death. Super super scary!!
We also found a little soda shop that's makes the BEST PIZZA EVER!!! We hiked Nauyaca Waterfall, which is one of the top 5 waterfalls in Costa Rica. It was 4 km up and down. We hiked on like the hottest day in the world, so we all died. But when we got there it was amazing!!!!!!

Every Friday and Saturday was the Quepos Farmers Market. The fruit was so fresh and delicious!! We went to the National Park for a field trip, but it wasn't that exciting because we've seen every thing in our yard all ready. By the beach there was so many white-face monkeys and raccoons, so you had to watch your stuff. We went to Biesanz Beach twice, once we had to walk 2 km down hill and then also up, then also for my birthday, but we got a taxi and it was much better.

On our last day we went up a road to walk to Ronny's Place. On our way up we noticed something bright in the tree so we looked closer and it was a toucan!! Then we carried on to Ronny's place and then Dad and Mom ordered an Imperial (a famous beer in Costa Rica). Then there was three more in the trees, then a few minutes later we saw these mini toucans that were super colourful. When we were walking back we noticed that there were like lime things in a tree. so we knocked one down with a rock and brought it home. It was actually a lime! I'm very sad that we had to go but I'm really excited to see a new place. I miss the sounds of the jungle every night as I fall asleep and seeing the monkeys every morning. But I know I will have a great time in Playa Del Coco!!!!  :)

NATE - Manuel Antonio was fun!!  I liked when a lizard ate a butterfly in our bathroom and we saw a big Boa Constrictor attack and eat an iguana by our pool. By the pool we also saw a big frog and Adison and Rhett almost stepped on it because they thought is was a leaf. My favorite things to do were to play in the pool and see the monkeys, the Titi's and White faces.

We could hear the Howlers somewhere but couldn't see them.  I liked the Farmer's Market because we ate fresh fruit there and there was lots of stuff to buy, but I couldn't buy it. Surfing was fun because it was hard and I could hit some big waves. The beach was cool because I could find shells and eat snow cones!

I really liked Suzie and Goldie, the dogs by our house and I really want to go back to there to see them and Paula. I'm excited to see new things at our new house though!!
